Relations between China and the European Union are sure to be more complicated after Beijing blacklisted several key European lawmakers, academics and think-tanks in retaliation for an earlier EU decision to impose sanctions on a few Chinese officials. However, what are the root causes of the sanctions on each other and which implications do they have for the EU-China relations in economic, political and strategic terms? In order to answer these questions, let's discuss with Prof. Dr. Eberhard Sandschneider, who was Professor of Chinese Politics and International Relations at Freie Universität Berlin from 1998 to 2020, today he is a partner at the consulting firm "Berlin Global Advisors".
